Who is BILLY MURPHY?

DeJaughn “Billy” Murphy (born May 25, 1982), often referred to as Billy Murphy was a singer, songwriter and music arranger. Born and raised in music and ministry, Billy’s goal has always been to share the Good News through music and life principles with the world.

Billy was born and raised in the Motor City (Detroit, MI). He is the second oldest of five children and the third generation of pastors and preachers. He is the proud son of a set of twins to Bishop William H.  Murphy Jr. and Elder Donna R. Murphy. As a product of his environment, Billy received the call to ministry in 2002. Since that time, Billy had ministered through the gift of preaching/teaching and music in diverse churches and ministries around the globe. Billy along with his twin (DeVaughn Murphy), founded Rock Nation Movement (RNM), a contemporary christian outlet for diverse individuals centered around faith, fashion and music. RNM is full of a counterculture band of creatives ranging from writers, singers, instrumentalists, actors, dancers, and more. 

Billy is known for top songs: Arise (You Are Good),Your Love, and WOW. He received Emmy and Grammy nominations, and most recently put out an EP titled “Gift of Love” (Winter 2023).

Surviving the passing of his beloved twin, Billy lived on to carry the lineage of ministry and the legacy of Rock Nation Movement through music and merch. On Wednesday, March 26, 2025 Billy transitioned to Heaven.

Today, Billy’s beloved wife Pheobe Murphy lives on to carry his legacy of love, music and merch. The music and merch are inspired and created by the late Billy Murphy. Your support of the merch, supports the music and movement. Thank you in advance.
